The Revival of Providence’s Olneyville Square (GoLocalProv, 08/19/13)

Yellow Peril and Cuban Revolution

Once known as Providence’s “Second Downtown,” Olneyville Square in the city’s far West End is long overdue for a comeback. The area is receiving several big improvements such as new streetlights, decorative flower beds, and soon, steel-cut banners along the main street designed by a local artist. Olneyville Square is on the rebound and more vibrant than ever, bringing with it a renewed sense of community.

Since contemporary art gallery Yellow Peril opened, two more have followed. The Plant on Valley Street is filled with creative businesses, offices, and loft spaces, while Cuban Revolution helps anchor the location.
