Gage Prentiss at Yellow Peril Gallery (Art Rogue Island, 12/17/12)

HITODAMA by Gage Prentiss

I went over to Yellow Peril Gallery as planned before their opening reception for their latest show “Hitodama” by Gage Prentiss.

This solo exhibition is important for several reasons.

First, this is the first time Prentiss has had a show in a couple years.

Second, this marks a shift in Prentiss’ work to including 2-D work from mainly 3-D, though this exhibit presents both.

Thirdly, this exhibition, inspired by the chronic illness and ultimate passing of Prentiss’ mother, unearths an emotional rawness in this artist amidst a room of well executed works for his audience, a true mark of courage.
