Editor’s Pick: Flushing the System, at Yellow Peril Gallery (Providence Phoenix, 06/05/13)


In “Flushing the System,” S.W. Dinge fills his canvases with marks from graphite, conte crayon, china marker, colored pencil, wax, and other elements.

“In general, I try not to prescribe to the notion of a strict concept when it comes to abstract work,” he says. “The idea that there could be multiple angles of interpretation intrigues me. All I can do as the artist is offer up my angle.” He elaborates, “As I worked on these pieces, I began to see them as a representation of the creative process itself.” Which explains the exhibit’s title.
